Hello everyone, this is Lewis, and I have some good news. Two days ago, I was approved for DACA! Last week I had decided to stop checking for any case status updates, because I had kinda of assumed it was going to take longer than 6 months. But today, I decided to check anyway. USCIS mailed a notice of approval two days ago, so I’m not sure exactly when the decision was made, but I’m assuming it was the 14th. I’ll post my timeline below. I’m so very glad this day finally came, and I’m very hopeful for those of you still waiting!

  • November 14, 2012: Mailed packet through USPS to USCIS office in Chicago, IL.
  • November 19, 2012: Packet delivered.
  • November 23, 2012: USCIS Acceptance Confirmation E-mail.
  • November 28, 2012: USCIS Letter of payment receipt & notice of case entered into process from USCIS St. Albans, VT. Service Center.

The process to obtain Deferred Action [for Childhood Arrivals] is long, tedious and nerve-wracking, but the end result is life changing. It is easy to feel helpless and scared when you face this strange judgement alone and so this page was created to strengthen the sense of community between the Dreamers on Tumblr. We need a place to go while we wait and stress over our case status. Please feel free to ask questions, submit stories and timelines and let others know they aren't alone (because we are not).
